"Designing a house that is more attractive to families has been the key to Avana's success. Apartment dwellers tend to be younger people or people that move on quickly. House dwellers tend to stay longer periods of time and be better tenants. The most popular room configuration is three or four bedrooms, with a study where people can choose to work from home. Double garages need space for kids' bikes and plenty of storage (the more people store, the more they are committed to staying). Indoor/outdoor flow is important to families, safe fenced or walled gardens where young children can play, and entertaining areas like barbeques add value and entice tenants to stay longer.
